I’ll warn you right now that this blog post is an overshare. Every so often a wedding comes along where all the elements just line up perfectly: great weather, awesome venue, a ton of time for photos, and most importantly, an amazing couple that loves photos :) This wedding had all of it. Bridget and Chris were married at Armstrong Farms in Saxonburg at the Fieldstone barn on a beautiful and mild July day. After their first look we went all around the grounds and got a ton of photos, then headed back to the barn for their outdoor ceremony. They danced their butts off, then let me take them back out again for some epic sunset photos. Here is their story:
Act I:
It was the typical tale of a girl walking into a bar. It was August of 2011 and Bridget had just moved back to Pittsburgh from living in Erie. She had arranged to meet her friend Callie for some trivia in downtown Pittsburgh. She walked into Rugger’s Pub in the Southside Flats and was introduced to a handsome young man named Chris. They had a great time playing trivia and talking, and found that they had a lot in common, especially their love for live music. A couple of weeks later, Bridget attended Callie’s graduation party, and Chris had also been invited. They talked the night away about their favorite bands, and Chris asked for her number by saying, “I should probably get your number so I can let you know about upcoming shows.” Smooooooth. Bridget happily obliged. They hung out as friends for a while, and danced together at concerts. Umphrey’s McGee was the first of the many shows they would end up attending together. Chris eventually asked Bridget out on a formal date, and took her to dinner at Claddagh and then to see Cirque du Soleil at Pitt. She loved every second. On a bright and sunny first day of May, they took a walk from Chris’ apartment on Mount Washington to the lookouts. They enjoyed the view and some brews on the way home. They attended a cookout at a friend’s house, and afterwards, Chris made things with Bridget official. It was a perfect day.
Act II:
In February of 2015, shortly after Bridget’s birthday, they took their yearly trip to Holiday Valley to go skiing and snowboarding. Chris surprised Bridget by getting down on one knee on top of the mountain in the 19 degree weather, and proposed. Bridget said, “Are you serious?!” about 15 times then happily said yes. Once again, it was another perfect day.
It has been 5 years since the beginning of their story, and they continue to grow in love and enjoy adventures together. They have gone camping, to festivals, skiing and snowboarding down various mountains, the mountains of West Virginia and more recently the shores of North Carolina. They have gone from both being in school, Chris for Pharmacy and Bridget for Education, to Chris being a licensed Pharmacist and Bridget being a licensed Teacher. They have gone from living in the city of Pittsburgh to living in the suburbs of North Carolina. They have gone from loving their furry daughter Kaiah to adding a handsome little furball named Milo to the mix. They have been there for each other through the best of times and the worst of times. Throughout the years they have always had one thing they are sure of: they love each other.
