I’ve been so fortunate with great weather this year and Lindsey & Sean’s wedding was no exception. You never know what it’ll be like in early November but it was warm and sunny and a perfect fall day. Lindsey & Sean were married at Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church in Monroeville followed by a reception at the Syria Shrine in Cheswick. Here is their story…
Sean and I met at a wedding! It was in Pittsburgh on October 11, 2014. Sean had traveled from his home in South Carolina for the wedding. We were both friends of the groom, but had never met each other before. We were both assigned seats at Table 19. Coincidentally, there is a movie being released next spring called “Table 19” which I’m pretty sure is the story of how we met! It’s actually about the misfit table at a wedding! Anyway, Sean’s friend started trying to persuade me to throw things at his sister at the next table. I refused, but then my friend (and maid of honor) informed him that I can’t turn down a dare. This started an evening of me being dared to do silly things that I had to do, and me daring Sean to do silly things in return. Me stealing a kid’s light up shoes and wearing them and Sean crawling on the dance floor and kissing my foot were among the highlights. Journey’s “Faithfully” came on, and I dragged Sean to the dance floor. We had our first dance together. At the end of the night we friended each other on Facebook and vowed to see each other again before Sean returned to South Carolina.
That week we texted constantly and made plans to get together on October 19 for a haunted house. I am a huge wuss, so when the day came for us to go to the haunted house I was so nervous about the monsters that I forgot to be nervous about Sean! I found out later that he was plenty nervous about me though! We had a blast that night, and I think I was sold on him when he held me the whole way through the haunted house without letting go or making fun of me! We saw each other again the next day and the following day! But on October 22 Sean had to fly back to South Carolina. :( We talked on the phone for hours every day, and on October 24 we decided to become “Facebook Official”! By October 28 Sean couldn’t take the long distance any longer… He drove all night and arrived at my house at 8:00 the next morning! I couldn’t have been happier to see him! He ended up moving his stuff back and getting a job in Pittsburgh by January. :)
On February 21, 2016 Sean proposed! He sent me on a scavenger hunt around his house. I followed clues and built a puzzle which spelled out that Caly (his dog) had the next clue. I found Caly, and she had an envelope tied to her collar. The envelope contained a note from Caly saying that her daddy loved me and wanted to spend his life with me! It also contained a ring! I looked up and Sean was down on one knee and asked me if I’d marry him. I obviously said yes!
Our wedding will have an 1980’s movie theme to it. I have always been very into 80’s movies and music and really wanted to incorporate them into our wedding. Our reception tables will be named after 80’s movies, which movie posters on each table. Our invitations invited guests to attend “Linz and Sean’s Excellent Adventure” and our truce bell is engraved with the quote “Be excellent to each other” from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. We plan to use 80s songs for most of our special moments. I will be wearing pink converse sneakers with my gown, paying homage to 80’s style. We can’t wait to party like it’s 1985!
